Malacañang today urged Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno to ask Solicitor General Jose Calida himself who ordered him to file a quo warrant petition against the Chief Justice to the Supreme Court.
The Palace reacted to Sereno's statement that he wanted to know who was behind SolGen's petition after President Rodrigo Duterte had his hand on it.
In a recent interview with the media this morning, Presidential Spokesman Harry Roque said, Sereno asked SolGen Calida better to say who gave him the authorization to question the legality of his appointment as chief justice.
According to Sec. Roque, Sereno can ask the SC's fellow magistrate who wants to get him off the spot.
Roque insisted that the prosecutor was right because his own colleagues in the Supreme Court wanted him to leave for life and ask why these are happening.
"It's so easy that he does not ask SolGen. Why he did not want to ask, "said Sec Roque.
