Cayetano to UN Chief: Edukadong walang modo. A shame to the whole world.

Foreign Affairs Sec. Alan Peter Cayetano reacted to the humiliating attack of the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) High Commissioner Zeid Ra'ad Al Hussein to President Rodrigo Duterte. The UN Chief said that the President of the Philippines needs to undergo psychiatric evaluation.

Sec. Cayetano said that it is irresponsible and disrespectful to the Human Rights Council, just to discredit the reputation of the president of the Republic of the Philippines.

According to Sec. Cayetano, Zeid's comments and complaints are frustrating and annoying because it is an abuse of authority and an insult to a member-state leader who has no due process.

The UN High Commissioner's comment on President Duterte is mainly based on the latter's anti-drug war. Hussein even threatened to interfere with the UN special rapporteur Agnes Callamard's investigation on the alleged extra-judicial killings in the country.

"The comments of the High Commissioner bring great dishonor to the Human Rights Council and its noble endeavors. There is no reason whatsoever for such an unmeasured outburst directed against President Rodrigo Roa Duterte and it should not be repeated. The Philippines is perturbed over the manner in which a ranking human rights official can overstep his mandate and insult leaders of member-states without first giving them due process, "said Sec. Cayetano.
